Back To Basics
Sometimes it’s good to grab a nice, basic beer to quench your thirst. This is what prompted me to pick up a six-pack of Yuengling’s Traditional Lager at the local Quick Trip the other day on the way home from work. Yuengling is America’s oldest running brewery, they’ve been brewing beer since 1829. They are still family owned and operated. I have enjoyed their beers many times over the years so I thought it would be good to do an actual review of one:
This is a decent beer. It is definitely a much better choice than the other Macro Lagers out there. It pours a nice, clear amber red color and has an OK head. Lacing is minimal. The aroma has a bit of caramel, some sweetness, and some grain in it. The taste is pretty good and has some sweetness with a bit of hops and a slight floral component. The beer finishes crisp with just a touch of bitterness.
I enjoyed Yuengling’s Lager, it was refreshing and clean tasting with enough flavor to make it interesting. If you have the opportunity, pick up a sixer of a Yuengling product and help support this long-standing family brewery.
