Weekly Update For Oct 26 2009

Week In Review

Ok, It’s been a while (7 months I’m embarrassed to say) but I’m going to start up my weekly training reviews again.  These are a way for you people who are interested in fitness training to see how I am doing on a week to week basis and maybe get some ideas.  It is also a way to help keep me accountable for my training in the dark days of Winter since I have my loyal readers to update each week :-)

A Quick Refresher

Basically I track the total time I’ve spent training, the amount of time in the “sweet spot” which is 85%-95% of FTP (functional threshold power) which is 235-265 watts for me currently, the total distance I’ve gone and how much work I did (measured by TSS which comes from the PowerTap computer file).  I also keep track of total distance and time spent training year to date.  One thing I’ve added this year is “Miles Walked” which is from my walking to/from work.  I started walking to help get me some weight bearing exercise in each week.  So, here are the numbers from last week:

  • Time Spent Training- 8:04
  • Time In Sweet Spot-  64 minutes
  • Miles Ridden- 91
  • Miles Walked-12
  • TSS (training stress score)- 468
  • Weight- 163
  • TSS YTD- 17818
  • Total Miles YTD- 4499
  • Total Hours YTD- 261

I didn’t do any indoor trainer rides this week but I expect to start them up since daylight savings is going away.  That will probably increase my “Sweet Spot” time quite a bit.  I will also be doing a test of my fitness in the next couple of weeks once I get used to the trainer again.  I’ll also do a quick review of how training with power can be used to build fitness.
