Weekly Update For November 8, 2009

Sorry for the delay with this.  I was hoping to get it posted Tuesday evening but we became preoccupied with some minor flooding in our basement as a result of the 4+ inches of rain we got yesterday! We were able to prevent any damage to the drywall, etc. but we had to stay up all night.  As a matter of fact, we are still using the Shop Vac as of 1PM, 17 hours later, but it’s about done.

Back In The Basement

This past week was the 1st full week without daylight savings.  So, from now til mid March my basement will be a familiar place as I try to at least maintain my fitness.  I rode Tuesday-Thursday indoors and managed to get a couple of good workouts in.  Here’s a screen print from my Powertap file from Thursday’s workout that shows a 40 minute interval right in the sweet spot:Nov 5 Workout

You can see I averaged 239 watts and 148 HR in this interval.  This is hopefully typical of the workouts I plan on doing over the next few months.  If I can do 2-3 of these a week in addition to a couple of outdoor rides on the weekends, I should be in good shape.  We’ll see what happens.  Here’s what I did:

  • Time Spent Training- 5:11 (bike only)
  • Time In Sweet Spot-  110 minutes
  • Miles Ridden- 96
  • Miles Walked-12 (not included in other stats)
  • TSS (training stress score)- 390
  • Weight- 163
  • TSS YTD- 18495
  • Total Miles YTD- 4666
  • Total Hours YTD- 270

It was a good week overall and I am glad I got to walk 3 days as the weather was beautiful.  I’m closing in on 5000 miles for the year, which was my goal and I’m real close to 300 hours of training which would be great.  I’ve got 7 weeks so I should do it.

Looking Ahead

Well, we’re already 3 days into the week and I haven’t worked out yet due to a couple of business dinners and the all night Shop Vac session.  Tonight, I MIGHT workout but my guess is I’ll go home and crash since I’m going on 36 hours with no sleep.  I do pan on Walking a couple of days as well as ride over the weekend.  We’ll see, and I’ll report whatever happens.
