Back On The Trainer
This past week was the 1st one this Fall where I have done indoor trainer workouts. I rode the trainer Tues-Thurs. Not big rides but 30-40 minutes each night in the 240-255 watt range, which gave me a big boost in “sweet spot” time. If you notice below I had 30% more minutes in the sweet spot compared to last week but significantly less total time than last week. My goal was to just get used to pedaling on the trainer. It worked, for the most part, but I noticed some fit issues on my old bike. So, I put the Cannondale on the trainer and felt much better. I don’t know what the difference is, but I’d like to figure it out so I can keep trainer miles pretty much confined to the old Specialized Allez. I also walked to work 3 days, for a total of 12 miles.
- Time Spent Training- 3:51 (bike only)
- Time In Sweet Spot- 84 minutes
- Miles Ridden- 71
- Miles Walked-12 (not included in other stats)
- TSS (training stress score)- 289
- Weight- 163
- TSS YTD- 18107
- Total Miles YTD- 4570
- Total Hours YTD- 265
I was able to get a nice 40 mile ride in on Sunday and pushed the pace the last 10 miles to give me a good finishing interval.
The Week Ahead
Well, daylight savings is done so I will be on the trainer for any weeknight rides at least until mid March. My plan for this coming week is to get 2-3 solid workouts on the trainer ( longer intervals of 30-40 minutes in the sweet spot) and then hopefully ride outside both weekend days. That should give me 5-6 hours of riding. I also plan on walking to work 3 days this week as well. I am still planning on doing a FTP test in the next couple of weeks to see where I am at and to give me some goals to shoot for. The last one I did was way back in January so it should be interesting.
