This was my best week in 3 months!  The last time I did this much in a week was way back in September when I did the Six Gap Century.  The Christmas holiday and decent weather helped a lot.  Here’s what I did:

  • Tuesday- 45 minutes semi-easy on the trainer (85% FTP)
  • Wednesday- 31 miles outside
  • Thursday- 32 miles outside
  • Friday- 19 miles outside
  • Sunday- 90 minutes inside on the trainer doing Spinervals 25.0 Aero Base Compilation

It was a great week and while I didn’t do quite as much intense consistent efforts on the trainer each day I was able to rack up some great numbers.  The Sunday workout really helped in getting time in the sweet spot.  The Spinervals series of DVD’s are a good way to break up the monotony of indoor training.  I have about 8 of them that I cycle through during the Winter and they really help as long as you don’t do them back to back as they can be pretty intense workouts.

The Week Ahead

The final partial week of 2008/start of 2009 will be back to a normal routine.  We plan on riding outside New Year’s day and should get in 20-30 miles.  I’m also planning on riding outside Sunday as well.  I hope to get 5-6 hours of riding in.

Everyone have a happy, and safe, New Year!
