The Best Butane Lighter I’ve Used

When I light my Big Green Egg I just put a couple of parafin fire starter squares in the charcoal and light them. The squares burn plenty hot enough to get the charcoal lit in a couple of minutes. The problem I’ve often had is getting the squares lit. I’ve used all kinds of those “butane sticks”, etc. and they work OK but not great. Well, I’ve found the answer in a product from BernzOmatic.

A couple of weeks ago over on Cooking Outdoors there was a quick review of their flexible lighter. It looked to be exactly what I needed as my current lighter was dying a slow death.  Well, last week I went over to the local Ace Hardware to get some more charcoal and fire starter squares and they had one of the lighters in stock so I bought it.  I took it out of the package, pressed the button and immediately got a “mini-blowtorch” flame, COOL!  This thing is great.  It’s got:

  1. A flexible shaft
  2. Adjustable flame
  3. A windproof flame
  4. An LED light to help you see in the dark
  5. An easy to refill valve on the back

And, the best part, at least if you are a guy:

  1. A great “whoooosh” sound when you light it :-)

Seriously, this thing works great.  It lights fast and stays lit in all kinds of weather.  I’ve used it in wind and rain so far with no problems.

So, if you are looking for a reliable, effective lighter for your grill, fireplace, turkey fryer, candles, mosquito beater coils, tiki lamps etc.  give this lighter a try.  It’s cheap and it works. If you can’t find one locally, here’s a link from Amazon (this one has a bottle opener as well):
