A Light Start To The New Year
With the New Year upon us many beer lovers have decided to watch the calories they eat in order to try to maintain, or lose weight. One of the ways to do this is to drink beer with fewer calories, AKA “light beer”. The problem is traditional light beers often taste terrible. There is a craft brewer who says they have a solution, Samuel Adams. Sam Adams Light promises to deliver craft beer flavor without the calories. I decided to review this beer to see if the hype was true:
Sam Adams Light is a pretty good craft beer. Yup, you heard it, I said “Craft Beer”. It’s not fantastic, or excellent by any means, but it is tasty and highly drinkable. Compared to any of the other light beers out there that I can think of, Sam Adams Light is “light” years ahead. It has real beer flavor and aroma. There’s a nice malty character as well as some good citrus notes. Carbonation is fine and drinkabilty is excellent. The best part is that there is none of the grainy, corn or adjunct flavor that so many light beers are known for. This is real beer, no doubt. For the better beer drinker who is looking for something lower in calories but with flavor, I highly recommend Sam Adams Light! Also, big kudos to Samuel Adams for the calorie disclosures they give for all of their beers, not just the light. It’s refreshing to see that and it is a definite help to those who want to at least have an idea how many calories they are consuming.

Sam Adams is basically the intermediate between macro and micro breweries.
