Liquid Dessert Time
It was a cold rainy night, perfect for a movie. So, after a delicious dinner of pesto chicken and roasted veggies we headed to the basement to watch Spiderman 3 on the big screen. I was looking for some dessert so why not have a beer with Chocolate in the name? I decided to try Rogue’s Chocolate Stout. I haven’t really been disappointed with any of their beers before so I was looking forward to it:
Well, I was not disappointed at all. Rogue Chocolate Stout is amazing! It pours nice, smells fantastic, tastes super good, and drinks great. I was VERY impressed with this beer. The aroma and taste are just like liquid chocolate. There is that nice bitter-sweet chocolate flavor that hits you right up front and then finishes with a nice little bit of bitterness. There was not much, if any coffee flavor in this beer. It was pretty much all chocolate all the time, which is a great thing. As a dessert beer, Rogue’s Chocolate Stout is hard to beat. Compared to some of the other great beers I’ve had recently, this beer is right up there with the best of them. If you like chocolate and beer, try this beer!

Thanks for the kind words about the beer with me on the label! Check my blog http://www.RogueChocolateStout.com which has pairing notes, recipes, events and other musings that have to do with Rogue Chocolate Stout.
When your travels bring you to Newport, Oregon be sure to visit Rogue Ales and have some of John Maier’s elixirs at the source! Since Rogue does not pasteurize and most of the beers are unfiltered, they are chock full of B vitamins, potassium, and flavonoids (in dark roast beers), and have No Fat! Beer is Food
Hi Sebbie!
You sure picked a great beer to have your picture on! I really enjoyed the Chocolate Stout and am looking forward to trying it again real soon, as well as cooking with it. I think it could go well in a Chicken Mole! I’ll definitely check out the blog as well. We might actually be up your way this year. If so, I’ll let you guys know. Maybe I can interview you in person, drinking a Chocolate Stout of course.
You are absolutely correct that beer is food! I try to make beer (in moderation) a regular part of my daily food intake.
Glad you enjoyed the review!
I don’t think I’ve ever had this…and I have had a ton of Rogue’s stuff (the most recent being the Shark Tooth Ale). I will grab a bottle of this based off of your recommendation alone.
I don’t think you will be disappointed at all. Enjoy!
