Redhook Double Black Stout (with coffee)
Here is my review of this great beer. I had some audio problems right at the beginning so I “narrated” the description:
This is a fantastic beer, hands down! After I did the video I drank the rest of the beer and was blown away. I think having the beer warm up a degree or two made a huge difference. I am partial to dark beers with lots of chocolate and coffee so I am probably a bit biased but if your tastes run like mine you will want to try this beer.
The beer pours DARK and creamy and has a nice caramel colored head that sticks around. The smell and taste is incredible, like coffee in your beer glass. There is a bit of hop bitterness to cut through it all and the aftertaste leaves some bitter chocolate and dark roasted coffee behind. Drinkability is very good as well.
This beer comes pretty close to a perfect “4 Mugs”, at least for me. Here’s how I broke it down:
Here is the score(new scoring system):
- Appearance- 9 points (out of 10)
- Smell- 10 points (out of 10)
- Taste- 19 points (out of 20)
- Drinkability- 8 points (out of 10)
Total 46 (out of 50) Points- A 5 Mug Rating

Go out and find some of it if you can. I saw some just yesterday here in Atlanta and I will be getting a bottle or two extra.
