Oktoberfest Beer Reviews: Josephs Brau Oktoberfest

Trader Joe’s Does Oktoberfest

Everyone is getting into this Oktoberfest thing.  Trader Joe’s, under their “Josephs Brau” label produces their take on the Oktoberfest style.  I was excited to see this in the store because I have been reasonably impressed with their beers.  They don’t sit at the top of the craft beer world but they have definitely qualified as “Craft Beer”, at least the ones I’ve had so far.  The thing that is nice is that you seem to get a pretty decent beer for a very reasonable price.  I picked up my six pack of Oktoberfest for $5.99, not a bad price at all:

Once again, Trader Joe’s puts out a decent beer.  The Oktoberfest is pretty darn tasty and has all the basics covered.  There’s nothing special about the beer at all, but they’re certainly isn’t anything terrible either.  The appearance, taste and smell were OK while the drinkabilty was pretty good.  Compared to much of the “macro” stuff, Trader Joe’s branded beers are a definite step up.  The price isn’t too bad either.

Here’s the score:

1.  Appearance- 5 points (out of 10)
2. Smell- 6 points (out of 10)
3. Taste- 15 points (out of 20)
4. Drinkability- 8 points (out of 10)

Total 34 (out of 50) Points-3 Mugs
