New Belgium Two Below

Baby Its Cold Outside

OK, it’s the first day of December.  The temperature is getting colder and Thanksgiving is over and the mad rush to Christmas/Hanukkah/Solstice/Kwanzaa is on.  Time to review my 1st Winter seasonal beer, New Belgium’s Two Below:

2 Below is an OK beer but I was a little disappointed with it.  The beers appearance and aroma are great but the taste just doesn’t match up.  I’ve found that if the beer is consumed at anything above “ice cold” the flavor seems to fall apart.  The aroma is fantastic with tons of floral and sweet/wet pine.  My nose was very happy with it.  The beer also looks great in the glass with a nice clear golden color and good lacing.  Drinkability is pretty good as well.  This is definitely a decent beer but it’s not quite up to what I expected.  I have another beer from New Belgium ready to review and I’m expecting it to be pretty good so stay tuned…

Here is the score:

  2. Smell- 9 points (out of 10)
  3. Taste- 10 points (out of 20)
  4. Drinkability- 8 points (out of 10)

Total 35 (out of 50) Points- A 4 Mug Rating
