Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

Stout And Peanut Butter Brownies

Winter has finally arrived here in Georgia.  Last weekend, we had the coldest night since March with temps in the mid 20′s.  I went out for my usual morning bike ride and promptly froze my fingers and toes.  So, once I thawed out I decided to whip up a batch of peanut butter chocolate brownies (from a box) and try them with a beer that I’ve been waiting to review, Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout:

Wow, what a beer!  Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout is a great beer, very nearly Excellent.  The aroma and flavor were right on target with a nice coffee/chocolate component and a great finish.  Drinkability was excellent as well.   The only thing that I would have hoped for is a bit better appearance in the glass.  I’m probably being overly picky but I’m allowed to :-)   The beer went absolutely perfect with my “semi-homemade” brownies.  The peanut butter and chocolate in the brownies exploded in my mouth when I took a sip of the beer.  Run, don’t walk, to your nearest purveyor of good beer and grab some of this before it’s gone!

Here is the score:

  1. Appearance- 8 points (out of 10)
  2. Smell- 9 points (out of 10)
  3. Taste- 19 points (out of 20)
  4. Drinkability- 9 points (out of 10)

Total 45 (out of 50) Points- A 4 Mug Rating

I think this year’s batch is definitely better than last years (that or my tastes/palette has evolved). I thought last years was just OK, and this years was fantastic. I am also putting away a few bottles to see how they do the same time next year.

I’ve heard several people say the same thing. This was the 1st year I’ve had this beer. I will have at least 1 bottle to put away til next year so it will be interesting to see the differences.
